→ The Story

Keteki Joha grows where the Brahmaputra still floods on its own schedule. The grain is small — almost shy — but its perfume can carry across a courtyard. Our partner growers in Karbi Anglong tend it the old way: no hybrids, no pesticides, only patience and the seed-bank notes passed down through their grandfathers. The GI tag, awarded in 2018, is the legal seal on what villages here have always known. Eat it with kheer at a wedding, with pithas at Bihu, or simply with a curl of mustard oil and a green chilli — it remembers everything the soil told it.
